As a child, Laura had a passion for animals and photography. Her father, Dr. Jerry Hart, introduced her to film photography at an early age, by giving her a camera and allowing her to help him in the dark room. For a career, however, she chose to follow her passion for animals by obtaining her veterinary degree from Kansas State University with a Ph.D. in pathology. She presently works in the area of pharmaceutical research for an international company.
In 1996, Laura's daughter, Rebecca, started riding American Saddlebreds at age six. As Rebecca continued to ride, Laura decided to start riding as well in the year 2003. She has since become a successful amateur rider and loves to compete at local Kansas and Missouri shows.
In early 2005, Laura decided to pick up the camera again and combine her two passions: animals and photography. She started shooting the Mid-America Charity Horse Show in fall 2005 with the aid and guidance of veteran show-ring photographer, Maggie Van Meter.
For the past three years Laura has shot many shows throughout the Mid-West and has continued to enjoy every class, standing shot, and victory pass.
